We’ll announce the winner come Monday afternoon, and then Tuesday morning we’ll give notice when Week 3’s raffle opens up for new entries. The winner each week cannot enter further raffles in this series; those who do not win a raffle must re-enter a following one to be part of a new draw. It’s time again, folks, so get your entries in and have a book shipped straight to your door from the publisher. This is all in celebration of the holidays and the the coming January release of S3B1: Between Their Worlds, which begins Phase/Series 3 of the Noble Dead Saga. So why not take a shot at an extra present.

This ends the first week’s raffle, and Nick’s book is already in process. By tomorrow afternoon, we will open up Week 2 of the raffle, so keep an eye out for the notice.
All instructions will be reiterated for those who missed week 1. All those who entered week 1’s raffle and did not win may re-enter again to be considered for week 2; entries do not carry over to a following week’s raffle. Winner's of a raffle may not enter following raffles. Along with the coming instructions, we will include answers to a few questions that came up concerning the raffle’s operation. Q&A: Writing (World-Building)
Overall, this is the sort of topic that’s appropriate for what’s coming our way in the near future. We won’t dig too deep but rather answer a basic question around the edges. World-building is most especially a concern — sometimes a misleading obsession — for writers in the premise genres of SF, Science Fantasy, Fantasy, Dark Fantasy and Horror. The trick is how much you do and keeping in mind that it’s all about the story-making, not the world-building. If the latter takes over the focus from the former, then you’ve wander astray.
As to why this topic is so appropriate, we’ll be doing a brief seminar on world-building (as well as workshopping manuscripts from a small group of writers) at the upcoming 2012 Cascade Writers Workshop. More on that coming soon. And now, back to our regularly scheduled programming…
